Pattern Notes: The body is worked in 1 piece to underarms and then divided to work back and front separately. Kollage Meets Jul at ...have you any wool?

This Fall we fell in love with pedestal buttons from Jul .

We used various sizes in a lime green resin on our Roaming Rib by Kathy Zimmerman. During the photo shoot we also styled it with leather and pewter closures, too.

There are lots of ways you could wear this ribbed cowl in Lofty!

Pedestal buttons are such a unique and convenient closure because the buttons screw on to your handmade picece instead of sewing them on. There's no need for making buttonholes. Brilliant concept!

Bridget Dean, owner of ...have you any wool? in Berkley, Michigan, is a huge fan of Kollage Yarns and Jul. Yesterday she had a trunk show featuring both companies.

She called it Kollage Meets Jul and the event was a huge success. Customers got to see all the closures Jul offers while trying on accessories from Kollage Yarns.

Andrea Marquis showed customers lots of different ways to wear cowls, scarves, wraps and shawls.

Bridget wore a Luscious Cannon Beach with a shawl pin, while Andrea wore a Riveting Worsted Cannon Beach with 3 patent leather pedestal buttons.

Such dynamic looks can be achieved by switching up your closures. Imagine the possibilities!

Woven Art stocks lots of Kollage Yarns & Square Needles. In fact, beacause so many Kollage Yarns are shop owner Nancy's favorite fibers they are on sale during the hop.

Nancy worked up Susurrus (exclusive Shop Hop design for hoppers that fill their passport) in Lofty.

Lofty, our new bulky merino, is perfect for this design. We love that she used Jul Pedestal Buttons as closures. They are our favorites!

We had our best Sample It! ever with our Riveting Sport kits

and our kits featuring our new Fall yarns - Lofty, Sock-a-licious Solids, and Riveting Worsted. Lofty is a bulky merino single available in 12 colors, we added 4 new semi-solids plus 4 solids to Sock-a-licious, and by popular request Riveting now also comes in Worsted.

Riveting - Yarn From Recycled Blue Jeans

As a boutique yarn company, we are always striving to develop a unique fiber to offer our customers. Riveting, recycled yarn made from recycled blue jeans, is the most innovative yet!

The 80% post consumer fiber comes from old blue jeans that no one wears any more. These jeans are chopped up and then spun into fiber. The content is 95% cotton and 5% other. Meaning, that 5% of the fiber is from the trimmings of the jeans. You may get little bits of yellow stitching from the jeans in your skein. How fun is that?

The yarn is so soft and has such a great hand. The fiber gets softer with each wash and wear, too. Just like your favorite jeans - but better!

Our designers really understood the look and feel of the yarn and created patterns that are truly for the weekend or that great escape to the beach on a chilly day.

Kollage's 1st KAL Begins

Cast on began today for the Four Seasons Wrap KAL on Ravelry.

Shown in Fantastic, the wrap can also be knit out of Glisten or Solace for a more drapey look.

It can be worn closed with a shawl pin, or open for more of a relaxed style.

The construction of the sweater is a side-by-side rectangle, finished with sleeves and a shawl collar. A great project for someone wishing to tackle a sweater for the first time.

So far, 11 Ravelry members have taken the plunge! And designer Sandi Rosner is going to check the thread daily to help us in our knitting journey.

LYS Spotlight: Woven Art

Woven Art is a yarn shop and fiber art gallery in East Lansing, Michigan, specializing in artisan yarns as well as fibers from unique boutique companies.

Woven Art hosts many events throughout the year to keep customers enthused about fiber arts. This weekend they were part of the Capital Area Yarn Shop Cooperative (CAYSC) 3rd Annual Shop Hop, where area yarn shops work together to provide a unique shopping experience to the Capital Area.

Shop hoppers purchase a passport for $20 that gains them access to prizes, goodie bags, discounts and specials as they migrate from shop to shop. Each shop also gives away a free pattern to all passport holders.

When shop hoppers gain 4 stamps in their passports, they get an exclusive pattern from French Press Knits, Lansing Cowl and Beret.

Woven Art's Lansing Cowl is knit out of Glisten colorway Snow.

There is also a random drawing at the end of the shop hop

for Woven Art's Grand Prize - Kollage Glisten and 1/2 N 1/2 Surprise Jacket & Purse!

Woven Art recently had Gwen Bortner help knitters grasp the concept of entrelac with her fabulous workshops. The shop also hosted a book signing reception so people could get their copies of Gwen's XRX book, Entree to Entrelac, signed by the author.

Woven Art is also a Feed Your Creativity shop. Kits 1 and 2 are on display as you walk in the door. Knitted samples of both are available for customers to try on before purchasing the kits.

Cassandra Cowl by Barb Kervin

is a lacy cable buttoned cowl out of Scrumptious, an angora/silk blend. This cowl is very versatile because it can we worn on the right or wrong side, depending on which side the buttons are sewn on.

Sara, from Paradise Fibers, liked the wrong side best. Isn't it gorgeous?

The cowl can be worn several ways, utilizing all the buttons or not.

Stacy, from The Fine Needle, advised knitters to sew buttons on both sides so the cowl is reversible. Brilliant!

STITCHES Midwest leads to a KAL

Feed Your Creativity was in full force at STITCHES Midwest with pattern signings, demos, and garments on stage at the fashion show.

Kathy Zimmerman kicked off the weekend by demoing Line Em Up cables

and signing patterns for her fans.

Kollage wowed knitters with 17 garments in the fashion show. Here's a few that stole the stage...

Saturday the booth was packed with knitters (yes, that's Franklin with Susie) wanting to see the colors of Sock-a-licious

and have their copy of Bellingrath signed by IrishgirlieKnits.

After the Student Banquet, somebunnyslove held a pajama party for tons of knitters

and Susie of Kollage, along with Benjamin of XRX, judged the slipper contest.

Many knitters won Kollage Lacy Cable Socks kits!

Sandi Rosner closed the show by demoing her Syncopated Stripes socks and signing patterns. IrishgirlieKnits was the first person in line to have her Four Seasons Wrap autographed by Sandi.

She LOVED seeing it on the runway and ran to buy the pattern off the show floor. And...so did everyone else! It was the hottest pattern at STITCHES. So I thought, "why not do a knit-a-long?"

Feed Your Creativity is Growing Legs!

I happened to be at The Knitting Nook in Watauga, Texas, when Wanda and Kathy opened their Feed Your Creativity Starter Pack.

They were blown away by all the interesting fibers and how diverse the projects were for each month. They're really looking forward to putting all the projects into their class schedule. Actually, all the employees were fighting over which model to knit for the shop!

Many shop owners are putting their own twist on FYC, catering the program to fit their customers' needs.

Whew! All the Starter Packs for the participating Feed Your Creativity stores were picked up by the Fed Ex man this afternoon.

A lot of love went into these packs, in order to prepare all the shop owners for the coming year: 10 classes, 10 fibers, 10 patterns and 10 techniques in 10 months.

Bobby skeined all the yarn,

Cindy assembled all the shiny black boxes for the yarn,

Susan and I packed all the boxes with yarn, patterns and notes from all our designers,

and Tracy, Mark, Margaret and Mama got every package ready for Fed Ex.

We can't WAIT to get all the feedback from our stores!
